National Honor Society

The History of the National Honor Society --

National Honor Society (NHS) is an organzation for over 1 million high school students across the United States and its territories, and in other countries such as Canada and some parts of Asia. It recognizes students for their achievements and leadership, and pushes them to further develop their skills through the helping of their communittes. The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) officially established NHS in 1921, athough there were plenty of local and state level chapters opened before. They have four pillars that each recognize a certain characteristic that is important to the organzation, with those being Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character.

Next, the Marketing Committee is in charge of spreading the news of what is happening, and runs the instagram. The tutoring committee is a relatively new one, but plans on starting to offer tutoring services to both High School and Middle School Students soon. Last but not least, the Constitution committee is in charge of adding amendments to the constitution as needed, and opens the vote to all members of the organization.
